#SEASONmatchdays: Reading vs Preston

On 7th April, we teamed up with Carabao for our first #SEASONmatchdays - intended to be a series of special live game get-togethers for groups of women. Following Women at the Game’s lead, our first match was Championship clash Reading vs Preston which we watched from a box at the Madejski stadium.

We’ve always been passionate about connecting and empowering women in football creatively in print and real life, and this fun, dynamic afternoon marked an exciting new phase of SEASON events. Going to games with more women was something we really wanted to make happen, even more so after hearing the epic match day stories of legendary Spurs fans Ellie Kershaw and Janie Rock, part of six women crew The COYS Squad, for issue 04. So we brought together a lovely mix of first timers and die-hards, competition winners and team members, players and proud armchair pundits: to meet, lunch and toast an intriguing contest - a narrow home win. 

“Was a great day!! have never watched footy with a group of women like that before, cracking experience, cheers guys x’’ commented @ceylonandi which pretty much summed up the day for all of us.

The women who attended were: Jessica Sykes, Sessa Omoregie, Anna Cooke, Felicia Pennant (Editor in Chief), Manda Wilks (Creative Producer), Charlotte Stewart, Ingji Vuqitrna, Ceylon Hickman, Lauren O'Sullivan, Jessica Spires, Georgia Haire and Sarah Grant.
